New Music and Movies This Week

MUSIC!

Kenny recommends Arturo Sandoval and his incredible tribute to Dizzy Gillespie with Dear Diz (Every Time I Think of You). Check out the story of this amazing project

There are some interesting titles available and a pretty clear delineation between chick-flick and guy movie. Sandy goes for the romantic  The Vow  while Kenny gives a thumbs up to the goofy Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.

IN THEATERS

If you’re not heading out to see The Avengers this week because you were trying to avoid opening weekend crowds, there are some interesting new movies. Kenny and Sandy agree on their pick — Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows starring Johnny Depp. Whether or not you remember the original TV soap from back in the day, this looks like lots of campy fun!

New Music and Movies this Week

A look at some of the music and movies that came out week…

“I remember her first album song and concert tour like it was yesterday”…Sandy’s always been a huge Norah fan and Little Broken Hearts is at the top of her music list this week.

On DVD Kenny’s picking Haywire  a fast paced spy drama with some superstar talent including Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender and his golf buddy Michael Douglas. Sandy’s opting for Queen Latifah’s A Joyful Noise

 

 

At The Movies this weekend, hands down Kenny and Sandy are both picking The Avengers! Looks like a fun and entertaining ride. Sources say, just like with Captain America last year, you’ll want to stay past the credits.

MOVIES

We’re starting out with movies this week and Kenny’s first pick is one that has lots of buzz and some great actors.  The Five Year Engagement (Jason Segal, Emily Blunt) is an unusual selection for the G Man who tends to favor the action movie over the romantic comedy. Meantime, Sandy stays predictable opting for some family fun with the animated The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The film which features the voices folks like of Hugh Grant and Jeremy Piven and it’s getting some nice reviews.   Looking for more movies and showtimes? Click HERE

Watching your movies at home or on the go with your tablet or smartphone? Kenny goes back to his love for action adventure on this pick. It also helps that he’s friends with and shares a birthday with Mark Wahlberg who stars in Contraband. See everything that came out this week on DVD HERE

Jazz lovers will dig this new collection from Sir Duke. Presenting Duke Ellington  features his famous orchestra and some tracks with just him and his piano . It’s both Kenny and Sandy’s music pick of the week.

It’s a big week for music with the release of the new Chris Botti project Impressions. Packed with a variety of guests including Herbie Hancock and David Foster, it’s a wonderful and romantic collection! Chris will be making the TV rounds on Monday. Also new this week Hidden Gems, a collection of rarities and hard to find tracks from the late great Luther Vandross. We can't choose, so we're going to get them both!

There are a some interesting new releases, but we're both picking Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol starring Tom Cruise. Some great action adventure that's a ton of fun!
