MOVIES

We’re starting out with movies this week and Kenny’s first pick is one that has lots of buzz and some great actors.  The Five Year Engagement (Jason Segal, Emily Blunt) is an unusual selection for the G Man who tends to favor the action movie over the romantic comedy. Meantime, Sandy stays predictable opting for some family fun with the animated The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The film which features the voices folks like of Hugh Grant and Jeremy Piven and it’s getting some nice reviews.   Looking for more movies and showtimes? Click HERE

There’s lots to love this week including one Kenny and Sandy both think you’ll enjoy from guitarist Ken Navarro. Ken delivers 12 pure solo guitar tunes (no overdubs) and covers classics like Imagine and Europa for an exceptional collection. Kenny recommends listening with a glass of wine on the deck. Meantime, Sandy says run…don’t walk to your favorite music store (or your computer!)  to get Esperanza Spalding’s Radio Music Society. An incredible talent who’s creativity and class helped win her a Grammy for best new artist, has a fantastic new 2 CD/DVD package.

Here we Go! Yes, we are up and running with a great new collection from perennial smooth jazz fav Peter White. Kirk Whalum and David Sanborn both guest on this 11 song collection of originals. Kenny, who’s also had a chance to collaborate with Sanborn, knows what a thrill it is– and it turns out that having a chance to play with the sax legend was Peter’s long time dream as well.   All in all, the album is amazing …as always, Peter White takes us on an exciting ride with his guitar. Kenny and Sandy both agree on this pick of the week!

There are tons of new releases this week…including My Week With Marilyn, The Three Musketeers, The Oscar Winning The Descendents starring George Clooney,  Happy Feet 2 and Young Adult. Kenny’s refraining from picking a favorite this week but did warn us against Young Adult –Although he did appreciate watching Charlize Theron, he found it extremely dark and disturbing when he saw it. Just sayin’. On the other hand, Sandy has a couple of must-sees–The Descendents and  Happy Feet 2
