MUSIC!

Kenny picks this solo jazz piano project from keyboard genius Keith Jarrett. Rio is a 2 CD set recorded live in beautiful Rio de Janeiro in front of a packed house. Pop it in for a jazzy trip to Brazil yourself!

Sandy’s pick is Maysa’s new one  Motions of Love! Stevie Wonder, who she’s worked with in the past lends a hand in the production. Dwele adds a guest vocal…and of course the magnificent Maysa magic is on full display!

MUSIC!

If you listen to the show regularly, you may know that Kenny is a big fan of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, particularly sax man Paul Desmond. So it’s no surprise he’s giving the thumbs up to this recording of their  last live show. It was recorded in Pittsburgh all the way back in 1967. The Dave Brubeck Quartet’s Their Last Time Out is 2 CD’s full of great jazz–and yes, it does include the famous Take Five!

A Disney family favorite and a chick flick top this week’s picks!

IN THEATERS

Kenny got to hang with one of this movie’s stars, Ben Stiller on SNL a few weeks back and says the guy is really cool and down to earth. Sandy’s never met Ben, but loves him and his co-star Eddie Murphy in just about anything. This one looks like a real blast –  and both Kenny and Sandy pick Tower Heist! Pass the popcorn!

Talk about your jazz lover’s must have! Kenny recommends this just-released gem Jazz at the Hollywood Bowl! Dating back to 1956, this was the first-ever jazz concert at the prestigious California outdoor venue. It was recorded for a 2 LP set and not on CD until now! It’s packed with mind-blowing performances from greats like Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Buddy Rich and Art Tatum!

New in the DVD department this week, Sandy suggests in Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil. This animated family friendly comedy has some big name stars doing voices like Hayden Panettiere and Glenn Close. Looks like a blast. Let’s order pizza, you in?!

Heading to the theater? If you’re looking for something new, Kenny and Sandy are both picking Spy Kids 4- All the Time in the World but for very different reasons. Sandy says it looks like a fun family flick. As for Kenny, 2 words: Jessica Alba
