Kirk Whalum is right on time with his Valentine’s Day gift to us. The saxophonist who many came to know after he played on Whitney Houston’s immortal “I Will Always Love” you has done something very interesting with this new release Romance Language.  He “steps into the role” of John Coltrane and  his brother, vocalist Kevin Whalum,”acts as” Johnny Hartman on a romantic collection of duets originally recorded in 1963. It’s Sandy’s pick this week. She also likes  Michael Lington’s wonderful star-studded release, Pure.
