Smooth Jazz Network
FAST FACTS

What is the Smooth Jazz Network?

The Smooth Jazz network is revolutionary when it comes to typical syndicated radio formats. With veteran radio hosts and expert programming derived from feedback from thousands of listeners annually, SJN will provide ‘sticky’ programming that your loyal listeners will return to again and again. SJN is organic, flexible and custom fit for every market’s needs.

The network can be a 24 hour a day program including music, hosts and production or it can also be taken in parts via daypart. For example: you can take the Ramsey Lewis morning show, the Smooth Ride Home with Dave Koz and keep the remainder of your day locally hosted. Weekend air shifts featuring hosts like Kenny G and Paul Hardcastle are available as well.

How is the Network Delivered?

We have made the network flexible and convenient. Currently you can take the network talent feed as posted on our ftp site. Daily national talent breaks are posted on the ftp. Further, each affiliate receives several pages of scripts presented by the talent to completely localize the presentation. The network is also available 24/7 via satellite.

Can I keep my local music mix?

Yes! Broadcast Architecture is primarily a research company and for those markets that can conduct local research to guide their music mix, we recommend taking the voice talent breaks and three to four songs per hour that immediately air prior to the breaks. This keeps the talent in tune with the music, by immediately back-selling songs… but also allows larger market stations to keep their well-researched music library.

What programs are available now?

All Smooth Jazz Network™ air talent are available now 24/7 and producing daily shows that can now be heard in 15 cities across the US. Ramsey Lewis (mornings), Miranda Wilson (Middays), Dave Koz (PM Drive), Maria Lopez (Evenings) Billy Raven (Love After Dark – Overnights) are all broadcasting via our network daily during the week. On January 5th, 2007 we launched our weekend programming with hosts; Keyboardist Brian Culbertson (Sat/Sun 6A-10A), Saxophonist Kenny G (Sat/Sun 10A-2P), Guitarist Norman Brown (Sat/Sun 2P-7P) and Keyboardist Paul Hardcastle (Sat/Sun 7P-Mid). “Love After Dark” host Billy Raven takes the mic 7 days a week between Midnight and 6AM.

How much $$?

All shows are available via two minutes of barter per hour within each program aired daily. For example, if you take the Ramsey Lewis morning show, we’ll provide two national barter minutes worth of commercials per hour to air between 6AM and 10AM Monday through Friday. The same plan is available for all dayparts on the network. All shows air locally during their scheduled times.

Combination cash and barter offers will be available. For unrated and smaller markets, there will be a cash charge in addition to the barter minutes depending on the station’s AQH.

Who are the Hosts?

World renowned pianist, jazz legend and veteran smooth jazz radio personality Ramsey Lewis hosts our morning show weekdays between 6AM and 10AM along with his co-host Karen Williams. Ramsey and Karen have been together on WNUA in Chicago for over 9 years.

In addition to our network, format veteran Miranda Wilson also hosts Middays at KKSF in San Francisco. Miranda outperformed KKSF in the ratings survey ranking #3 among 25-54 adults on the legendary radio station. You can catch Miranda on the Smooth Jazz Network™ every weekday from 10AM to 2PM.

Saxophonist Dave Koz takes the ride home weekdays from 2PM until 7PM. Dave has hosted the KTWV morning show in Los Angeles for many years as well as his nationally syndicated “Dave Koz Radio Show” for more than a decade. Dave actively tours, hosts his various radio shows and owns his very own record label Rendezvous Entertainment.

Maria Lopez is an industry vet of over 20 years, and also is the 7pm-12midnight host at KKSF in San Francisco. Her philosophy of communicating with her night-time audience is to ease the stress of everyday life and introduce her favorite artists, many of whom are personal friends.

Billy Raven hosts “Love After Dark”, our overnight program 7 days a week from Midnight to 6AM. Billy is based in Miami and also hosts Love 94 Miami’s highly successful “Love After Dark” evening and overnight program. He has been referred to as the Barry White of Smooth Jazz radio.
